What happened to my curly hair?

my hair was really long, about rib-cage length, and i cut it a few inches.

(maybe 4 maximum!)

it used to have really nice, tight waves but now they're all GONE.

what happened??

i thought hair got curlier the more you cut it, but now my hair just won't go into it's wavy style, no matter how much i scrunch it.

help!

  1. well, yeah, maybe you're using to many abrasive products, try not using gel or hair spray, those contain really bad things for the hair...i used to have light brown hair and the gel made it brown,it looks natural only if i got nothing in my hair and be in the sun...also,it can depend on your genetics,i mean, genetics determine the levels of melanin and keratin, those are the ones that control the parts of the body like nails and hair and body hair, and one of them is the one that controls the curly or the str8 hair  ...check up your family tree and see who has the hair like that,or relatives who have had the hair like you and also the waves just faded away...i had a friend who happened the same as you,and her hair had not being the same as before....im sorry,i dont know any solution unless you do a perm to it...

  3. I have curly hair. I had really long curly hair before too, but i cut it short, at my shoulders, and all the curls were gone. My hair turned into a poofy, wavy mess. But after a month or so, my hair got it's curl back. Any girl who has curly hair and had it cut will experience the same problem. It is probably because your curls didn't start and the top of your head, only mid-lenght, so when you cut your hair, the curls left too. It will come back. Just be patient and take care of it.

  4. who cut it..? and what kind of tools did they use? maybe the scissors weren't sharp enough or they're inexperienced.. either way see if you can have a professional cut some small layers into it... perhaps with a razor.. that'll bring' em back!

  5. You may be overstressing it, and it's flattening out from being pulled about too much, or you may be adding more product than normal and it can't curl.  You may also be missing decently placed layers, so the hair can't separate itself out into layers which look like curls to you and me, so it dries straight all together.

  6. i think that the more natural your hair grows out, the more it will naturally curl in and wave. i think since you cut off the 4 inches your hair isnt naturally waving in anymore. iv noticed the longer i grow my hair, the more it curls. when i cut it, it kind of stays straighter.

  7. Weather can have a big impact on your hair so don't count that out. If it's really humid or really dry your hair won't behave like it normally does. Also hair does change throughout your life because of puberty or hormone changes. I really don't think cutting four inches off the bottom would make a difference in your hair.

  8. maybe your using too many different hair products in it. Just like when people perm their hair, and it never goes back to its original state!
