What happened to our illegal immigrant problem?

it was a big priortiy in the media now they do not talk about it.i think the illegal immigrants are a huge problem and needs to be a bigger subject with the mccain and obama.how do you feel about it?

i believe Obama is the best fit man to do the work, opposing to building walls and even patrolling borders and all the blunt answers like deport them and to make sure they are unwelcome, such great brains in modern politics

The immigration problem is slowly dissipating, in Hazleton Pennsylvania.  English is the only language, if you're not speaking it you are totally ignored like you're invisible.  Last month, some teenagers actually killed an illegal alien.  If illegals think they can just come to our country and ride on our coattails, they're mistaken.  Bottom line is they don't belong here, they're undocumented, they haven't contributed to our society and fought for this country.  Increasingly people will start taking it to the streets and casting them out, it's happening already bigtime.

You hit the nail right on the head.  This is the biggest problem the US faces in the years to come.  These people come here and steal american jobs.  The crime rate goes up and our economy takes a blow.  Whoever gets into office will spend the first two years cleaning up after Bush, so don't expect any changes immediately.  I hope someone can put an end to it quickly though.  Also niether candidate will comment on this subject for fear of losing votes.  There are some idiots in the US that support illegal immigration!

You know, when I read all this comments I notice something commong among most people. They are "IGNORANT". They dont know what US is made of, they think that their ancestors built the bridges, schools, hospitals, etc. I have been in constructions of schools, hospitals, bridges, etc. and guess who are the people actually doing the work, yea illegal imigrants...so I suggest anyone talking on illegal imigration to do a little more research or explore yoyr sourroundings a little more before talking.

I think most of the feeling of American Citizens toward 'undocumented' (i.e., 'illegal') immigrants is resentment. Resentment at their trying to profit from illegal activity, resentment at their attempts (often successful) to get government benefits based on taxpayers' money, and mostly resentment at the attitude of undocumented immigrants  and their defenders who become outraged at legitimate attempts to enforce existing immigration laws of this country.

Do you remember the demonstrations not that long ago in which large groups of immigrants (legal and otherwise) marched in protest of ICE raids? They carried MEXICAN flags, as well as banners and placards written in Spanish, all demanding 'equal' treatment as 'Americans' in a country they entered in violation of its laws. Can you imagine the reaction of Mexican citizens if thousands of Americans came into their country as tourists and decided to stay, taking jobs and using Mexican government services despite not having the legal right to reside in their country? I dare say the reaction would be at least as outraged as that of American citizens to illegal Hispanic immigrants.

With regard to what appears to be the heart of the argument of some defenders of illegals - that we should all be sympathetic to the plight of the needy poor of foreign lands and let them stay regardless of their legal status (because, I assume, it is the right thing to do) - can you imagine the flood of immigrants from all over the world if we simply let anyone in who wanted to immigrate? What would happen to our infrastructure and our tax base when many (even half) of these people fail to get jobs and end up on welfare or other forms of public assistance - or simply end up on the streets without any support and turn to violent crime in desperation?

I am not an advocate of heavy-handed raids and tearing up families, but the laws must be enforced. Illegal immigrants, by and large, are not innocent 'victims' of some repressive government plot, but persons who entered or remained in this country secretly - knowing they were breaking our laws and knowing the possible consequences. Now, when they are caught and arrested, they protest and claim that they are innocent victims and that their families will suffer. That was one of the possible consequences they should have considered when deciding whether to break the law.

It is still around, the candidates are just putting in on the back burner so they do not lose any votes, i have started to e-mail the news media and asking why they have dropped the subject, no reply yet.

Well, the Conventions are BIGGER News now, than Illegal Aliens!

However, the "ILLEGAL" issue is still on the burner.

I noticed and waited for Obamas 'stand' in it. I was Pleasantly surprised to hear he Proposes to go after Employers of Illegals! He mentioned 'nothing' about Amnesty just that he would go after/make it harder for those Employers and they must be dealt with in accordance with our laws! (No Jobs, No reason to stay here?)

YET, I'm 'not' holding my Breath, waiting!

It's going to take a lot more Screaming & Writing our Senators & Congress Men & Women before this "ILLEGAL" situation comes to a head.

FIRST & FOREMOST: We, as Americans MUST insist on Abolishing the 'Anchor Babies', LOOPHOLE!!

they want to find a way to deal with it without siding with anyone. if they say they will give amnesty to illegals they will get the hispanic vote. if they say they will deport all illegals they will get more american votes. they dont want to lose either so they dont say anything.
