What happened to profit capping?

British Gas parent Centrica has posted half-year profits of nearly £1bn - a day after a record rise in bill prices. How can it be justified when people are facing death from a cold winter

Isn't it time the government did its job and stepped in to stop this exploitation?

Oil companies are also showing obscene profits while we struggle!

  1. ITS IN GORDON BROWNS POCKET,

HE CANT CAP THEM THATS HIS HOLIDAY FUND. ( TAX )

    AND ( VAT )

  2. It makes you wonder who has the reins of power in their hands, because the government choose not to cap the 500%

BG amass in profits, and then put up bills by the highest ever increase,

Gorden Brown was the Chancellor of the Exchequer before his back door entry into no 10, so why has he not limited these large companys to acceptable profits and in doing so protect our economy?

  3. I totally agree.  Cap the buggers.  It is beyond belief really isnt it?

  4. should never have privatised the utility company's in the first place. it's profits and dividends before people now. politicians to blame yet again.

  5. since when did big and multi national companies worry about people,  and whether they live or die.  Only if they killed millions and there was no one to buy their products or services so no profit  would they worry  ..   do you think they or government really care ... no not at all they don't

  6. Profit capping at the wrong place & at wrong time will give the wrong effect.   Similarly, if done it right, all will be right, right through.

Freedom --- A free world but there must be an applicable stopper to regulate & moderate the effect as a result, ------a suitable one.

  7. It was time for the Government to step in a long time ago but yeah you are completely right, they need to bloody do something, the people in this country are tired of being used and the Government is doing nothing to stop it.

But its not just Gas companies that the Government need to stand up to it's all big companies that dominate the economy here.

Virgin raise costs of flights because they cannot afford the fuel, meanwhile they are just about to launch a space tourism program.

Train companies raise prices and lower service quality, meanwhile the Government complain that we do not all use public transport.

    It's ridiculous.
