What happened to restaurant/bar named Shakey's?

My parents attended college in Lawrence, Kansas. They were describing me a place they went to eat large pizza's and could only get beer in a pitcher and watch reel movies. The front of place was a family restaurant, in the back was a seperate bar for adults. It was a popular place to eat and meet family/friends.

We had a Shakey's pizza back home in MN when I was growing up 20+ years ago, but it shut down in the early 90s.  It was a great place to go.....pizza buffet, video games, etc etc.

I remember Shakey's. They seem to all be gone now. Other interesting places have also met their demise. I remember loving Lum's as a kid. They had hot dogs steamed in beer and great chili. After I got married and had moved to a new town, I spotted a Lum's and told my new wife how great they were. We went in and everything totally sucked. I was a bit embarrassed. They closed down only a few months later and I haven't seen a Lum's since.

WOW...Talk about a memory from the past!  I remember going to Shakeys Pizza as a kid!!!We lived near Fresno, Ca. and it was on Blackstone Ave. If I remember correctly. I would say it was swallowed up  by some large nameless company...but thanx for the memory!
