Question:

What happened to that g*y Marriage Ban Amendment that President Bush said he'd sign 4 years ago?

Since President Bush took office 4 states allow civil unions and 2 allow g*y marriage. New York is about to follow. In 2006 an Arizona referendum to ban g*y marriage, civil unions, and heterosexual cohabitation was voted down. In Pennysylvania bills to ban civil unions and ban g*y marriage AGAIN (it was already banned in 1996) failed. President Bush said he'd sign an amendment banning g*y marriage but I haven't heard word one about it. What's more the Bushies don't seem to care nothing has been done, although they're still just as enraged about g*y marriage as ever.

  1. Bush and the Repubs were never serious about it. It was a game, a ploy, a Rovian tactic; it was a "wedge" issue to scare more conservative christians to the polls to ensure a Bush win in the '04 election.  Nothing more.  If Repubs had been serious about it, the Repub Congress in '04 could have passed it and sent it to the states.

Same story with the Flag-burning amandment too.  It was never meant to be taken seriously.

Just a way to scare up more votes for the Repubs.

Those folks were all played for fools, and it worked perfectly.

  2. those issues are mostly used as campaign wedge issues to get the evangelical right wing vote.  Its been said that Bush and his insiders have a good laugh at the evangelicals for they know they have used them to get power and have done very little of what the fundies wanted done.

  3. The libs in Congress fought against it so it never got to his desk. The only reason any state allow homo marriage is because of radical judges legislating form the bench snubbing their noses at the will of the people.... Blame the dems for not allowing a bill. Not Bush...

  4. I think the people that Dubya catered to have finally realized that they have been played for fools AND that theyre are also more important things to worry about in this life than what two consenting adults who love each other do,

  5. It's not bushes fault. I'm sure he knows that being g*y is completely wrong and is a sin. He does not have control over every thing in the Government.

  6. amendments are ratified by the states and can take years to complete.  the president is not involved.

  7. Have you heard of it crossing his desk so he can sign it? I havent either. The other thing is this, I agree that it should be handled at the state level. I think g*y marriage should be banned, but that the states should take care of the laws concerning it. In my state it was added to our constitution that it would not be legal, so while you name some states that are allowing it, several have given it a firm no.

  8. Bush is a homo
