  1. It used to be advantageous to gain field position by finding touch deep in opposition territory.  Scrums in those days were a contest, with the better hooker winning more ball.  These days, there's no point - the scrums are (sensibly) modelled on the Rugby Union practice of loose-head and scrum-feed by the non-infringing team.  This means that finding touch only enables you to set up a defensive pattern in the opposition half.  Rugby League today is only five-tackle football anyway, then a speculator kick - or else surrender possession on the sixth tackle.

    Cheers,

    Cliff.

  2. fifth eights like anasta have taken it over....were u watching last nights game?

13th min: An Anasta bomb is defused, at the second attempt, by the Qld defence who then dart downfield razzle-dazzle style.

29th min:Anasta, trying to play the ball quickly, spills it to give Qld possession inside the home side's half.

31st min: looks like a Blues knock-on after a poor Anasta pass

79th min:An Anasta pass finds Hoffman who is tackled brilliantly by Tate, but Archer calls the pass forward. Qld 16-10

end result: NSW: Cooper try. Fitzgibbon three goals from three attempts (one conversion, two penalties),

Braith Anasta is a fk up! he didnt even help he just hindered and never scored once!...
