Question:

What happened to the Council for Education in World Citizenship (CEWC)?

It was sponsored, I think, by UNESCO. Does it still exist? At the beginning of the 60s I attended a 6th Form Conference about the newly independent countries in Africa, and visited Berlin just 6 months after the Wall was built.

  1. I used to belong to this too.  It was a great way of getting round other schools and meeting people of the opposite gender. I remember a 6th Form Conference at Central Hall, Westminster, where the Archbishop of Canterbury mentioned the fact that things ending with -ity tended to be good and things ending in -ism tended to be unpleasant -- one of those odd things which stick in the mind (long after the waffle about ideologies and peaceful coexistence has faded away) and which I'm still pondering.  Was that the one you attended, I wonder?  (I'm sure you'd remember, with your name!)
