What happened to the Destin jetties?

I remember about 4 or 5 years ago before I was certified to dive, I snorkled around the Destin jetties and noticed tons of colorful fish. Now there just seems to be rocks and crabs. What happened?

I've noticed the missing colorful fish myself, my guess would be that since the Florida net ban back in 1994 their has been a large increase in predatory fish eating the colorful fish and leaving the crabs hiding in the rocks.
