Was it destroyed or moved somewhere else? James Joyce writes about it in Ulysses but I've heard it's no longer in Ireland.

  1. Thank you TonyB, i am Irish and that is true. Nelson was an English hero so when we won our freedom of Ireland down came Nelson.

  2. The first site below shows pictures of Nelson's Pillar on O'Connell Street (Sackville St.) which was built in 1808 and blown up on 8th March 1966, and the Spire which was erected at the site between December 2002 and January 2003

The second site shows a photograph taken from the top of the pillar

  3. The IRA blew it up in the sixties ...

  4. It was called Nelson's Column or Nelson's Pillar. It was blown up and destroyed I think. And so it should be - the English murdered millions of Irish people.
