What happened to the Original Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Plesant, SC?

Pitt Street Bridge is in a section of town known as the old village and originally connected the o.v. to sullivan's island. but it burned down at one point and was only partially rebuilt. When did it burn down? How? Why?

  1. Laura, Mount Pleasant has an intriguing history but I couldn't find an answer for you.

    But I do have a suggestion.

    There is a historical summary and a contact option.

    I would try calling Martine Wolfe-Miller, she is the city's Public Information Officer.
