What happened to the Republic of Lakotah, the new Sioux Indian nation?

Is it legit or was it just a publicity stunt by a few people?

Lakotas are real, they're not 'new'. Sioux are split up into Nakota, who went north into Canada with Sitting Bull, and Lakotas who stayed in South/North Dakota. They are the westernmost. In North Iowa, Minnesota and east North/South Dakota are the Dakotas.

EDIT: The Republic of the Lakota is still only a proposed area, from an earlier treaty between the U.S. and the Lakota peoples.
