What happened to the St. Martin and the Beggar gilded statue atop St. Martin at 59th and Princeton, Chicago?

Anyone who drives on the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago will have seen this gilded statue erected in 1939 at the top of St. Martin Catholic Church. it is now gone.
