What happened to the atmosphere during noahs flood

Question

During the flood the atmosphere would have been pushed up 5 miles. At that altitude the lighter elements, specificaly nitrigen and oxygen, would have boiled. That didnt happen. What is the explanation for that?

Well, I believe the explanation for that is that there was no flood.  This is an area of Yahoo! Answers about science and reality, not fiction.  If anything, this "flood" was a metaphor for something else.
