What happened to the desktop I used to have...3 days ago? How can I get it back?

I don't have a "back" icon anymore. I don't have a "home" icon anymore. I have to go past several pages to get to My Yahoo. How did that get changed and how can I get it back the way it was?

my friend you will have to do what is called a system restore

Start>Accessories>System tools>system restore

click on the date you wish to roll your pc back to (like a week ago maybe).. system restore will restore your pc to the way that it was a week ago(or the way it was for which ever day you pick).

system restore is completely safe and reversable if you dont like the outcome!

Go onto the net, when it says file, edit, view, fav, tools, and help at the top in the gray area to the right, right click and click on standard buttons! Easy as pie.

Look in your programs then go to accessories then go to system tools, then restore it will reset your pc to its setting of as long and you have a restore point which it does automatically unless you manually clear it.

First to clear up any junk left around click start-then settings then  taskbar and start up menu-click advanced then click clear then ok- then to get desk top back- go to control panel-double click display- then in "background" scroll until you find the "desktop" you want- click it then click apply then ok.

This happens to me once in a while but especially when the clock is changed by Windows.
