  1. It's several HUNDRED feet under the ocean surface--

They walked across-- (is the "consensus").

  2. It's now under the Bering Sea thanks to that awful Human Caused Global Warming (sarcasm off)

  3. Sir Alec Guinness thought that blowing up the bridge over the Kwai was so much fun, he had to have a go at the land bridge between Uelen, Russia and Wales, Alaska.

It happened right after he finished playing Arab leader Prince Feisal in Lawrence of Arabia; Bolshevik leader Yevgraf, in Doctor Zhivago; and Indian mystic Godbole in A Passage to India!!

  4. There a number of theories on when and how the first Americans got to the Americas the minimum period is ~14000 years ago using what is considered the most popular theory, just as the last ice age was ending sea levels were lower and ice more common nomadic tribes like the Eskimos who live and travel on the ice would have had little trouble crossing.

The land bride theory is accepted because other places in the world had similar migrations around the same time like the Australian Aboriginals moving south to the large island of Tasmania. Sea level during the last ice age were ~30m lower quite a bit compared to the few inches AGW has caused so far.

  5. I think it comes and goes, look at the January 1, 1980 image. You could cross from Russia to Alaska by crossing the ice.

  6. "During the Last Glacial Maximum, about 21,000 years ago, global sea level was approximately 120 m (400 ft) lower than today. The Bering Land Bridge existed as a vast tundra plain connecting Asia and North America. As the world's glaciers and ice sheets melted over the following millenia, rising sea level flooded the land bridge — blocking migration routes for animals and humans."

  7. The oceans rose, as evidenced by the grasses found in Bering Strait core samples that only grow in Arctic tundra like that in Alaska and Siberia.  It was probably methane from all of  those bronto burgers Fred Flintstone ate on the way to the drive in movie.
