What happened to the squirrels in Boston?

This is my 4th summer in Boston and I remember being impressed with how many squirrels live in the parks of Boston. This year, however, there are surprisingly few squirrels in Boston parks.

Does anyone know what happened to the squirrels?

Is this because of some natural causes, or because someone decided we have to many squirrels?

The Janitor had them stuffed for his squirrel army.

Which he later traded for a stuffed dog named Steven.

They won the NBA title... No wait that was the Celtics.

I think that they got scared off from the festivities from when the Celtics won.
