What happened to the stunning glamour of the typical Egyptian woman?

This question arises from a need to know Egypt as it was in the golden era. I see it in black and white films. I like many aspects of the Egyptian woman that I find in those films. Strong but disciplined. Free but highly respectable. Glamourous but modest and principled. Stylish but serene. Has the iconic Egyptian woman disappeared forever? Or is there hope that she will be back?

  1. Your image of the Egyptian woman was in films....like the USA films....do you think all American women are as they are portrayed in Hollywood films?  But the Egyptian woman of today is as you just described her in the "golden era"......Strong, but disciplined. Free but highly respectable. Glamorous but modest and principled. Stylish but serene. I have an Egyptian husband and have been to Egypt many times of course. The women are as you describe them, but not in the same way as depicted on film. Just as American women are free, stylish, independant, glamorous, and intelligent.....but not in the way Hollywood portrays them.

  2. That kind of glamour wasnt only in Egypt. The whole 50's and 60's era was full of it. Women wore dresses and heels and acted like ladies. Then the 70's hit and more and more women turned to pants. Until the late 90's when both men and women dressed almost the same, t's and jeans. Uni-s*x stores are to blame! lol.

I do have some hope though.. the 50's and 60's are back and in style.. Women will hopefully get back to being lady like again.. Fashion trends from the 50's are back like the waste belt and the clutch or the wedge.. More girls are turning to pumps and putting away their sneakers until its time to work out..

  3. With the new generation, i have doubts. Yet, there is still a good bunch out there. It is just that times have changed too, you gotta keep that in mind!

  4. Nothing happened to it it's still the way it is

@ Apple Egypt makes films too not everything is U.S. Centric

  5. Sorry, but you are talking about 1950's Hollywood actresses. Elizabeth Taylor is NOT Egyptian. Iconic ANCIENT Egyptian (Kemetian) women are physically dead! The original Kemetic women are still in Africa! I know this may shock you, but Egypt (originally called Kemet) is a country in the continent of Africa.

As for "glamorous, respectable, disciplined and principled" Mrs. or Ms. Taylor (not sure if she's still married to her 8Th husband or not) is no longer acting.

  6. That was only in films......do you think everything in films represent the true nature of EVERYTHNIG?

  7. This woman is still out there, it's just the norms and standards of the society has changed with the backward movement in every aspect and the failure of the Egyptian leadership, if there is still something like that, to "lead", also the crawl of the Gulf money who wants to have a role after Egypt had given up hers. Gamal Hemdan once said (a famous Egyptian geographist) that the main challenges that faces Egypt are Israel and Gulf countries and i believe he was right.. Billionaires of the Gulf countries bought our original copies of old films, our heritage, and the Egyptians officials just let it happen, just like that..

Billionaires of the Gulf have loads of money that they can't invest in their countries because of many things one of them is that their market is saturated, so where do they go? The come to us, and build luxurious housings, bring some polluted industries...that was not what you were asking..sorry for drifting away from the main subject..salam
