All the cars in France used to have yellow headlights, but last time I was there I only saw one car with yellow headlights all the rest had boring white lights. What's up with that?

  1. we changed of headlightcolor nearly 20years ago, come more often !

  2. yellow lights did not light enough... now we have white lights, really bright, it's better!

  3. The yellow headlights are not really any more effective for fog than regular white lights, so they have fallen out of fashion.

It still seems very european to me though. :)

  4. Ah.  Je ne sais pas.

  5. Yellow headlights came into use end of WWI to differentiate French vehicles from German. France was the only one to use them and many foreigners complained about the abrupt change of colour when they crossed the border, that it could disorientate them and make night driving more dangerous. By 1993 France decided to have the same headlights as the rest of Europe. That makes it easier for drivers to have only one colour of headlights.
