What happened to the yo-yo?

i never see the kids with them these days i remember i used to play with one

They're still around..just bought one at a Dollar store.  They even have "pros" going around to different schools to do little shows and then they try to sell you their "super Duper" yo-yos for $15.00(dupe is more like it) Don't you think they are like the Slinky?  They look great in ads!

maybe health and safety stopped them...someone might get choked or something?

they are banned at our school. some kids play with astro-jax instead but the school wants to ban them too. i still play with yo-yos occasionally and can do a few tricks but the truth is i just don't have time. a modern lifestlye doesn't make time for relaxing and playing with traditional toys
