I have been on Ortho Cyclen for about 7 years, then about a year and a half ago i switched to Mononessa (generic and cheaper). So then my pharmacy quit carrying Mononessa, so they put me on Sprintec. I had minor problems with the Ortho, (migraines) that i didnt realize were from the pill until years later when i put it all toghether. The Mononessa was pretty much the same as the Ortho, but when i switched to Sprintec all Hec broke loose and i have a huge rash, crazy migraines with auras, and im nautious and queezy. This has been for 2 months that ive been on the Sprintec. I would like to go off the pill all together i think. i want to see what its like without this in my body everyday.

Has anyone out there had these sorts of same problems, then went off it complelety? What happened? Did you loose weight, gain weight, problems go away? Did things become worse? - Ive been on a pill in all about almost 8-9 years. I got on them when i was 18. So i would like to see maybe what my body does when i go off of it. AND- if you did go off, what other means of B/C did you began to use that you liked the best? I know there is the obvious, condoms, but is there anything anyone would suggest (IUD, or other form?) Im married, so i do need to find another method, we dont want kids yet.

Sorry for the long question, i just dont know what to expect, since ive been on this pill for so long. Im a bit nervous....

thanks!

  1. Talk to your doctor before doing anything.  You do have a gyno, right?  Talk to them and see what they think.  I was on depo for 5 years a f***** me up royally.  Never ever use it.  I have been off it for over 2 years trying to get pregnant and can't.  I bled for over a year nonstop and had to have a minor surgery.  You need to discuss stuff with your gyno before doing anything.  Good luck to ya I wish you the best.

  2. I was on ortho tri cyclen ( and some of its generic forms) for about 7 years as well. I didnt experience any of those negative side effects you are but once i stopped taking the pills nothing really changed. My weight stayed the same and actually my periods are still pretty regular. I get it around the same time each month and they are still really light ( about 3 days) I have been off the pill for over a year. As far as the other form of BC. I just use condoms now.

  3. i don't know what to tell ya about the problems u r having with the pill except to talk to ur doctor about it. but when i came off the pill because i kept forgetting to take them i got on the shot and u dont have to get it but every three months and i like it it has worked great 4 me.

  4. I got pregnant with my twin boys 2 weeks after I stopped Ortho Cyclen.

  5. Get off them! The migraines won't get better on Sprintec. I looked up your brands, and Mononessa and Sprintec are basically the same thing--generic versions of Ortho Tri-cyclen. Ortho Cyclen is similar, but with slightly more hormones. Anyway, I went off BCPs after being on them from age 19 to 30. Nothing bad happened, it was fine.
