  1. They  got caught cheating.

  2. NASCAR took some of the Gibbs engines and put them on a dynomometer to see how much horsepower their engines were producing.  NASCAR found that Gibbs Racing had placed some magnets in an area to keep the throttle from opening wide open, thus showing that they didn't have as much power as they really do.  Sort of a throttle stop.  NASCAR found it and then found out how much HP they really have.  Expect big penalties for Gibbs Racing.

  3. I think NASCAR should invoke a "death penalty", similiar to the NCAA.

I think GIBBS should be forced to park one of their Nationwide cars for the remainder of the season and the other should docked 500 points.

  4. NASCAR screwed Toyota, so Toyota screwed NASCAR back.

  5. Haven't heard anything. Maybe they were "excavating" rocks on their property without permits.

  6. They were caught blatently cheating. After the race they put magnets under the accelerator pedals to keep the cars from getting full throttle on the post race dyno test.

This is the 18 and 20 Nationwide cars.  I hope they are heavily fined and held out a race or two.

  7. They got themselves a trio of "dynomite" drivers.

No big trouble, unless you're the competition..

edit: Or you can go the Superdave route, which is the right one, but far less amusing, lol..

  8. 18 fan im not sure but i heard somewere the money goes to some award at the end of the season and i think nascar should make a standard engine for all cars i want to see driver skill not some engineer back in the shop

  9. This is a new one to me...He,s got enough money to get himself out of trouble!!!

  10. It wasnt nothing to to do with dynomite but with two JGR cars that were tested on the dyno machine. Here  is the article.(This was in the Nationwide series)

  11. they joined the ranks of all the greats - they got caught cheating. they tried affecting the outcome of the post-race chassis "dynomite" test by limiting how far the throttle could be pushed down by putting magnets on the other side of the firewall. nothing that actually affected the race outcome itself, but an attempt to manipulate the results of the test afterwards. at least it was original - i've never heard of using magnets that way. they probably had already gained back the 15 hp nascar took away "unfairly" in my opinion and didn't want nascar to find out and "penalize" them again. but they got caught, so you can bet they'll be penalized now.

j.d. gibbs was just on raceday and was talking about it. if i was more than just half-awake i would have heard what he said. but i hope he said "we were just trying to teach nascar a lesson - if you're going to penalize us by taking away horsepower when we were following your rules, then we might as well cheat. like the old saying goes - if you're going to accuse me of something and punish me for it, i might as well have the fun of doing it." i doubt he said anything like that, but i wish he would have.

i think they did it because they wanted to make a donation to the nascar foundation, where all the fine money goes. and they wanted to make all the others teams feel better about themselves - they can now feel morally "superior" to make up for being technologically inferior. so their motives were good... at least good-hearted...

    ;-)
