What happens after they call your references?

ok i had a job interview and they said they will let me know in a week or 2 if i get the job or not they have to do crimal checks and that and i know i don't have anything on a crimal record. So i found out that they called my references because my dad drives cab and the guy who owns the place said that I have really good references does that mean that I mostly like get the job. or not really

Reference is really important, if your reference report is bad, the job may not be yours.
