I've just found out that i've got to have one done and i'm scared.

My brother had one done and he said it hurt but it'll be different for me because i'm a girl. He also said that it's not just physical, they ask you questions too but that's all he'll tell me.

So what happens in a boys sports physical and what happens in a girls one ?

Is it scary ? Painful ?

  1. Sports are required at my school so everyone has to get a physical.

This is literally EXACTLY what they do:

There are usually different stations set-up.

    1) They have a line and usually take a few people for every station. They usually give you a piece of paper to record everything.

    2) In one station they check your height and weight

    3) In another they check your hearing and have you raise your hand if you hear a beep

    4) In another station they check your eye sight and they ask you if you wear glasses/contacts. If you DO wear glasses, you have to keep them on while taking the eye sight test.

    5) Ask you question about respiratory illnesses and about your period.

That's it! None of that "sexually active" or "v****a check" business. They don't care if your sexually active or not! Trust me, I've been getting these tests since kindergarten!

Don't be scared, it's like going to the doctors accept without the fear of getting shots! It's NOT painful at all!!

The first few times I had to get a physical, I asked my doctor to write them a note excusing me from getting the physical because I was so scared.

    Good Luck!

  2. In a boys' sports physicals, the nurse actually checks his p***s to make sure everything is normal.

In the girls' the nurse will check your breathing with a stethoscope. Check your blood pressure. Then she'll just ask you a couple questions about your period and if you're sexually active. If you ARE sexually active, and you tell her you are.. They may be required to give you a papsmear. Which is where they do an internal exam of your v****a.

  3. It's just a regular appointment. They check blood pressure, reflexes, height, weight. Depending on the doctor and how long since your last appointment she may want you to pee in a cup (which isn't that bad). Nothing to be scared of.

  4. nah. just a regular dr. appt... and they might check your spine....

  5. well i just get a girl doctor because i get one every year for basketball.

she asks me questions about my period.

she checks my height and weight

    she check my back

    she checks my heart beat

    she checks my stomach

she checks my pulse and thats it

except then my mom made me get the gardasil shot and the chicken pox shot and those hurt.

nothing to be worried about because they dont check DOWN THERE or UP THERE for a sports physical. just make sure that your doctor knows that it is a sports physical not an annual physical. those physicals are totally different at my doctor. the annual physical we have to get out PRIVATES checked and pee in a cup which osnt bad peeing in a cup!! hope i helped...... good luck

  6. oh its nothing at all!!!

they take your weight, pulse/listen to your heart, they measure your height, and do all the routine check up stuff and make sure that your in proper health to participate in sports.  The worst thing you'll have to do is pee in a cup, and thats not bad at all!! Just relax, everythings gona be fine.

    hope this helps

  7. not scary at all!! The dr feels you knees, elbows, and joints and your stomach and then your done!! guys are much much different so don't be scared. Guys have to have their nuts touch ;]! so not painful i know from experince and my moms a nurse

  8. I got my basketball physical done at school.

And basically he checked my ears/nose/eyes/heart/pulse.

Then he checked my spine and gave the okay!

  9. it doesn't hurt.... just get a GIRL doctor.

  10. Hey no worries, I just had mine done yesterday :]

First my doctor had me pee in a cup which, like someone already said, isn't as bad as it sounds. Just don't go at your house before you leave so you'll have to go at the doctor. Then the nurse checks your height, weight, blood pressure, and eyes. Then my doctor comes in and checks your spine, b*****s, and pushes on some spots on your stomach to check some organs. That's about it! She does ask questions about when you started your period, if they're normal, if you're sexually active and a few other things like that.

I'm sure yours could be a little different depending on your doctor, but it'll be somewhere along those lines. It's really nothing to worry about!

    good luck

  11. it depends on you. They do different tests for all girls. For me he just asked me a bunch of questions, bent my arms and legs to see if the can move properly....and..he felt my pulse........down there....

  12. Don't worry. No school in the world is going to require a pelvic exam or pap smear for female students. They'd be sued into oblivion if they did, and it has nothing to do with sports anyway.

It's going to be the basic stuff. Check heart, check breathing, ears & throat, reflexes, blood pressure, etc. Probably a urine sample.

  13. lol its nothing to be scared of

they make you bend over (check your back bone)

pee in a cup ( idk what thats for, but  it checks your urine)

popsicle down your throat ( checks mouth, throat i think)

    listen to your heart (stethoscope)

    they check your weight

    and eyes

look in your ears (maybe to check to see if its clean idk lol)

thats about all i can remember

i have to have one every year for swimming and tennis team

    good luck
