What happens at a seized DWI-DUI police auction?

Question

Its really simple...I've never been to a police auction before...thought it would be a good cheap place to pick up a used car for my teen daughter.... so anything you can tell me about going to an auction would help... like how to bid do I need to take a wad of cash or will they take a check? what kind of title will I get or do they just give you the papers to file for a sheriff's lien? you know anything I should know about going to an auction? tips on buying?
