Question:

What happens if I can't pay back a payday loan place?

I have brain cancer and am on social security. Last month I ran out of money for the medications I need to live, so I caved and got a 'payday loan' from a checksmart for $200. It came due this month and I couldnt' afford to pay it back (again because of more urgent medical things). So they called and told me it would go to their corporate offices.

I won't live very long, so it really doesn't matter what they do to my credit. But i'm still curious what they do at this point. They will not allow me to make payments, it's all or nothing they said.

So, please answer only if you know, or have been in this situation. If you can't pay the loan back the next month, what do they do?

  1. Is there someone or some organization who would make you a gift of a few hundred dollars so you can get what you need.  That would allow you to pay off this loan if that would bring you peace.

Contact the Salvation Army for one.  Hospice also sometimes has funds available to help someone like yourself.  If you were under their care all your medicines would be free.  Consider it.  They are a wonderful organization.
