What happens if I cancel a direct debit to a company?

Basically, I went to one of those makeover days and chose to order 8 prints afterwards. This cost £400, but was ok as I needed my modelling portfolio. They were to be put on a CD and mine and my friends complimentary prints should be added too.

We received the CD and only 5 photos were on it. my friends picture wasn't there at all so i phoned customer services and they sent me a page of thumbnail photos to choose the ones they'd missed off.

They did not respond to 3 emails and it has been 7 weeks. After 2 weeks though, we did receive my friends print (albeit not on CD as requested) but they will not repsond to me and getting through to customer services is difficult. We had requested a touch of photoshopping during the order which was also not done.

They have taken the first payment out of my friends account and I want to cancel it until they respond, send the proper order or draw a line under it. I just don't want them getting debt collectors involved, will they?

You need to cancel.  You will probably get the collection or other nasty letters for a while.  Be sure you do everything in writing.  By this I mean immediatly after you have called customer service (while still fresh in your mind) write a letter stating what was discussed, and keep a copy.  If there is some question about it you have something to refer back to.

Contact your banking instution immediately....do not allow for this transaction to go any further.....one thing is said for the banking system...its fool proof.

  If they want your money they have to answer your questions to satisfaction...otherwise it would be "buyer beware" and our banks have worked in keeping the money in the bank.

Cancel it and be ready to send all the photos back and tell them you werent happy with the customer service or the photos...That sounds like a really bad company and I would tell them so.  If you send anything back make sure you send return receipt..

Cancil the payments go to a layer! They will have to pay every court cost! and all payments that were made!
