I just recently installed my component speakers and are currently not 100% sure if my speakers are installed correctly. What are the consequences of not having the perfect wiring. What exactly should I look for if these wires are in fact mis-connected.

  1. They will sound and perform poorly. Your speakers are marked positive and negative, if needed download a schematic, for your car, and make sure they are correct.

  2. Speaker will not produce the sound in correct phase. Most the time you can hear the difference in front of the louldspeaker wired right will produce bass notes more clearly. Small speakers are harder to tell if they are wired right. Most wire will have ridges or color stripe so you can run + to + and - to -.

  3. you change the phase of the speaker

out of phase speakers meaning 1 hooked up correct and one hooked up backwards will have bad imaging and not much bass it wont sound right at all because the speakers on one side will move in while the speakers on the other move out

  4. At higher vol. they will distort and not give the performance that you want. Hooking them up correctly gives you cleaner, crisper and as well as more enjoyable sound. As well as what you are looking for is your best ground. Because a circuit is only as good as its ground. Keeping that in mind when hooking up your speakers, be sure to use your better medal type of wire on -negative.
