What happens if I don't pay for OR sell my rent to own furniture???

I signed a lease with a well known rent to own company and got some nice living room furniture and a bedroom suite. I lost my job and have to move out the apartment and want to sell the furniture for moving capital ( I know, naughty naughty). If I sell the stuff and move out and they have no way of contacting me, will they just go ahead and put it on my credit? If so, I do not care because that is messed up already, but will they send the cops or try to take me to court??? My cousin rented stuff sold some of it and moved without telling them and all they did was put it on her credit, and that was 3 years ago, AND she still has the TV she rented from them. I know it is a stupid question, but I thought I would look for some answers....any takers?

  1. The credit cops will find you and hound you forever. You will also have a bad credit rating which will follow you forever. Not good especially down the road when you become more finacially stable and want to buy something beautiful on credit, only to bare the embarrasment of not being able to. Good luck with that.

  2. They will find you they did when my sister tried it and will have you arrested. if they have your social security number finding you will never be a problem.

  3. I think it depends on who is in charge in the store.  Some don't care if all they do is ruin your credit.  They have your social security number, so they can track you down and take you to court.  Selling the furniture and not paying for it is a serious crime, and you could end up doing jail time for it.

  4. If you really believe that is all they will do, go for it. My bet is that you will be locked up soon after.
