Question:

What happens if I don't pay telemarketer?

Well, I fell for some telemarketing scheme and apparently I now owe them a bunch of money for some magazines. All they have is my address and they misspelled my name (by one letter though and they don't have my middle name). They had my debit but I changed it. I agreed over the phone, when they first called, to pay them and they probably have that on tape. I tried to cancel but they won't let me. If I don't pay them can they do anything to me? Will it ruin my credit or can they not do anything since they don't have much on me?

  1. 200 million americans will APPLAUD YOU FOR IGNORING THOSE FRAUD ARTIST PUNKS AND CREEPS!!

  2. your gonna get beat up by a midget :D

  3. If you didn't sign anything, no contract was proveably established.  Anyone could have answered your phone, including a child or an ID thief.  Burden of proof is on them and changing your card number does back up the story an unauthorized person could have given them the card number.

  4. Nothing happens, it's just like spam, ignore it.

***Wow, this time I read your details, and now I think you're screwed. Just try and ignore them. There's some way you can block numbers from calling.

  5. what you should do.

is call the head office and tell them you're dissatisfied with the product you receive. tell them you'd like to cancel IMMEDIATELY and if they don't let you tell them you'll be telling your friends, family, and coworkers that it's a scam and not to buy from them. Should work, their scaredycats.

but yeah, if telemarketers call, just hang up on them. I'm 17 and i already know this. lol.

  6. They cannot "not let you cancel"  you can call them and tell them you are cancelling, or record a message saying that. if you have their address send them a letter saying you are cancelling (keep a photocopy).

If you get any bills for the magazines write "cancelled" on it and send it in.

You can write "refused" on the magazine and try to send it back, but probably just keep it, they will not send you many.

  7. you can't ignore it.  get the # again and ask to talk to a supervisor that you want to cancel anything that was agreed to.  Plus if you aren't 18 or older, its not binding...

  8. I've had that once, for Reader's Digest, they kept sending me the bill after they would send me the digest. I ignored it and it kept adding up. They couldn't do anything except take me to court which is too much trouble for them. And then they just topped sending me the REader's Digerst and the Bill.

Another example that wasn't from a telemarketer, I signed up for something that included 6 months of free Wall Street Journal, they sent me a year's worth and sent me a bill for the last 6 months. I didn't pay, they stopped bothering mt
