Question:

What happens if I get too hungry while fasting during Ramadan?

This is my first Ramadan, and I'd like to see it through. I'm used to eating several small meals a day, and to go from several meals to none, is pretty hard. I'm constantly hungry. Are there any consequences for eating during fasting time? Will I have to make up a day if I eat?

  1. The whole point is to feel hungry. try getting up just before dawn and eating and drinking as much as you can !

  2. rules of fast is that adult muslim has to fast unless there are excuses such as:

-disease which may be affected by fasting .

-severs thirst or hunger that is causing one to feel sick and may affect life

    -traveling for long distances.

-pregnant and lactating ladies if they feared on their baby.

    -menstruating women

    -elderly people who can't fast

the aim of fasting is not torture ,it is rather to strengthen one's volition and contorl of desires. this strong volition will enable him to abstain from doing sins. so it is a practical training for submission to allah .

other aims include living the special spiritual life of ramadan, feeling with the poor people who don't find something to eat ,learning how to be patient ,in addition to some health benifits on the liver and gastrointestinal system.

so if you feel too hungry try to be patient and buisy yourself with spiritual activites like praying, reading in the holy Quran or reading muslim books and websites. if you started to feel  very sick and dizzy you can break your fast and do a makeup later. with time you will be able to tolerate ,and fasting becomes much easier.

  3. I am absolutely starving too today. I walked home from college and now my stomach is begging me for food. Thank Allah (SWT) that there's only 8 minutes to go

  4. Engage in Tasbeeh it will really make your stomach feel comfortable

realy I have tried this by Allah this is True

    May Allah Help you

  5. My sister may Allah and our prayers be with you to sustain you in your fasting!

The payback system also works :) and there is one but it was thought to be presented for the female generation who have period (pardon me) so that the days they had their ..... they would not be simply allowed to fast and some of my friends even do this by paying those days back straight after Ramadan ends.

so there are days from Monday to Thursday  every week when our Prophet (saw) used to fast ....and so can you but the Niyet would be something similar to : "My Lord I am paying those days back to you that I wasn't able to do so on time" But you need to mention that you're paying these days back....

But, if you had an excuse that it was vitally not good for your health, or your organism could not help not taking it anymore and your stomach hurts a lot then it is permissible for you to stop fating as I know.

But don't give up as long as its just the simple hunger because there;s nothing you can do if it is the first two days of Ramadan and it means you're simply getting used to and your organism as well!

May your fasting go well !

  6. Assalamu Walaikum and Ramadhan Mubarak.

I am hungry too! this is my second time fasting and i am NOT going to eat. I just read Quran. its easier when i'm are at home fasting because i am more focused.

This is a sacrifice that we undertake out of fear and love of Allaah. He will be pleased that you and us all are striving in his way in hope and fear.

Keep up the good work! and read as much Quran as possible. or take a little nap.

  7. hey sis,

sorry u can't eat during fasting times, it's a sin

maybe u shud start eating more at suhoor

i literally stuff myself wid food and drink lotsssssss of water XD

    best of luck!!

  8. sorry sister there are no exceptions.....now that you are fasting, you cant eat just because you are hungry....hunger is the whole point of it....however if you find fasting too hard since its your first time...may be you can skip every other fast and make all those up that you skipped after ramadan.....which means yeah you will have to make up the days you miss

  9. read Qur'an, the reward for fasting out weighs the immediate need for a little food.

  10. hrmm... this is kind of .... THE PURPOSE of fasting?? learn some self control buddy.

edit: i see. you can start fasting half days until you get used to the idea. when you get hungry remember those who are less fortunate than you. who can not eat because they have no food and no money to buy food. remember those living in the streets with no shelter. have compassion towards them and feed them whenever you get a chance.

may Allah guide you on your journey.

  11. yah u'll have to make it up. don't eat a thing. don't even l**k stuff off ur fingers lol ( i tend to do that without thinking ).. so yah i guess u'll get used to it soon enough :D

  12. I read the Qur'an, or do my homework.  Maybe you could take a  nap. Yes if you eat you will have to make it up afterwards, but you can only break the fast if you are ill, traveling, pregnant or have your menstrual period.

It's really great that you are doing this to understand Islam, we really appreciate it, salaam : )
