What happens if I send a post dated cheque ? Will the bank cash it or will they send it back ?

I posted my cousins cheques to early and now I think she will be charged if they don't accept the post dated cheques

  1. They'll cash it when it's recieved; the date doesn't affect the check's negotiability. So it's pointless to've post-dated it.


  2. They should accept it just fine. You can hold them until the date the checks are post-dated for, and then cash them, or I think the bank will hold them until the date of the check. There shouldn't be any fees. Of course, all banks are different.

  3. Chances are, they'll never see it. The tellers are busy and do not have the time to look at every check.  However, if there are insufficient funds in the account, it will bounce.

  4. if she has money in the account, they will honor payment of the checks.  If not, they will bounce them or charge overdraft fees.
