What happens if.. Popcorn question?

What happens if you put the "this side up" side of the popcorn down in the microwave? I want to try it but I don't want anything to explode.. lol.

well i have actually done this.  it pops put not all of the kernels pop, and the flavor is a bit funy as it has burnt a bit

its burnt popcorn (gross) , explodes (bwooooooosh!!), or sets on fire

It will burn and not pop right. The butter needs to get hot so the corn will pop.

i dont think it will explode or anything....not that i have tried it or so but i guess, putting the popcorn in its correct position will allow you to safely handle it when you take it out the microwave i guess....

The "this side up" side is to make sure the popcorn actually pops.  The bottom has special heat receptors made into the bag and it has to be touching the bottom of the microwave to work.  You probably won't have anything explode but you will more than likely not have popcorn popped either.

It will burn, because it needs to lay in the butter to pop. Trust me, you'll set off the smoke alarm if you try it. LOL
