  1. As you now know, It is your responsibility to find out if a car you drive is insured.   It may help to make sure the car is now insured and if it is, take the proof to court with you.  (Also take a toothbrush and your wallet)

By the way.  for some of the posters above me here. Auto Insurance is NOT required in all USA states.  Wisconsin is one such state and there are others.

  2. if it was me going to court I would plead the 5th . stating that u did not know about the insuracne the car owner did not tell u it did not have the necessary insurance. so make sure u take him to court with you. otherwise guess what you stand a chance of another fine and possible loss of license. get smart.

  3. If the car wasn't insured, you better be prepared to prove that YOU were insured.  If the answer is neither, get ready for a hefty fine.

  4. You can expect to submit the registration as to the owner of the vehicle who is responsible for the insurance or lack of. The owner is responsible for the insurance ; not you.  You paid the speeding ticket and should not have to pay for the lack of insurance.

  5. Driving in ANY state without Insuance is ILLEGAL.  And you shouldn't have been driving it, period.  You will have to pay a hefty fine for not having Insurance, you will be required to get Insurance AND pay more for Insurance because the courts will place a SR22 on you.  Which means you have to carry a certain amount of Insurance now.  Whosever car it was shouldn't have let you drive it knowing it wasn't covered by insurance.

  6. According to chapter 169 of the Minnesota statutes, "every driver shall have in possession at all times when operating a vehicle." The driver needs to produce, on demand, proof of insurance in force covering the vehicle being operated. If the driver does not produce the required proof of insurance then he or she is guilty of a misdemeanor.

statute 169.791 goes on to say that a driver who is not the vehicle owner may not be convicted unless the driver knew or had reason to know that the owner did not have proof of insurance, provided that the driver gives the officer the name and address of the owner at the time of the demand or at a later date produce this information.

  7. You will get a big fine and maybe a few points off your licence , MAY be arrested dependent really
