my girlfriend is flying into john Wayne airport SNA this evening and she just told me that it isn't due to arrive until 1055 P.M. because her previous flight had engine problems. john wayne doesn't allow planes to land after 11 because they would be landing right over all the homes around. what will they do if she is diverted to LAX or something?!?!

  1. i doubt they will divert if she lands at 10:55 PM then the  plane will land. Approaches that will arrive after 11 are diverted to LAX. Please answer my  question thanx!

  2. I've had the same problem, and they extended the curfew a little and allowed our plane to land at about 11:15pm.  If it's something like mechanical problems, the airline will do everything they can to get their customers into the right airport as early as possible.  As long as she's not delayed again, she should be fine as they can usually make up time in the air.  If she can't land in Orange County, her plane will be diverted most likely to LAX.

  3. There are a couple of things that could happen.  One, they divert to LAX..I have had it happen many times before.  Typically if they are forced to divert to LAX, they will bus passengers from LAX to SNA.  The other scenario is they will land in SNA regardless of the curfew.  The previous poster stated that they extended the curfew.  That is actually false.  What happens is the plane lands after curfew and they incur a penalty to land past curfew (monetary, of course).  If the airline can avoid it, they would rather diver than pay a hefty landing fee.
