What happens if an IRS installment agreement to pay past due taxes falls on a weekend?

Would it be due the next business day or on the weekend? This would be for a corporate filing.

It is in the Internal Revenue Code that if something is required to be done on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, it is timely if done on the next business day.

Any time a payment is due on a weekend (or holiday) it is extended until the next government business day.

And, I don't blame you at all for waiting until the very last day to pay the government. It is the smart thing to do.

I can't believe you would ask that question!  Send it in two or three days early.  If you had done this before you would not have those problems.  Why do you think you must wait for the exact date of payment.

Basically, it is due the following Monday.

Any tax or form that is required to be filed on a weekend or legal holiday is considered timely filed if postmarked on the next business day.  So in your case, it would be Monday (unless that Monday was a holiday).

The next day would be ok, but it must be RECEIVED by that day, not postmarked as another post suggests.
