What happens if botox is shot directly into the muscle of the jaw? will you be able to move the jaw still?

will there still be feeling left if injected? will u still be able to eat?would there be swallowing issues?

  1. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it depends on how much is used.  It's used to paralyze muscle, so if a lot is used, and I think you'd have to use alot, then you probably couldn't if the entire jaw is injected.  If it's just a little superficially, I'm sure you could still move it.

    *Muscle is what makes the bone move.  Bones don't move themselves.

Botox injections to the jaw muscle are used for reduction in size of the jaw muscles.  This is another stupid cosmetic thing that women are doing.  Not only does this therapy destroy the muscle tissue, but it makes a woman less attractive in my opinion.  It could also cause TMJ because if the jaw muscle becomes weakened enough, it will no longer hold the jaw bone in the socket effectively.  Well that's my .02 on the issue.

  3. You can still open your jaw because the jaw is a bone - not a muscle. Botox only affects your muscle.
