  1. summer school is optional.if he doesnt go, then he will have to repeat the grade, but if he would go, then he would just go onto the next grade

  2. You are not required to enroll him; however, he will probably be held back a grade next year and have to repeat this grade level.

I think summer school is a joke:  If it is possible to get a kid to learn something in 6 weeks of 1/2 days that they couldn't learn in 9 months of full days, then why doesn't school just last 6 weeks total?  It is a joke.  Let your kid have a break this summer with the understanding that next year he will repeat this last grade and he has to buckle down and make good grades and pass.

  3. If he can't do summer classes he will have to repeat the entire grade next year. Summer classes aren't usually the entire summer though. You should check with the school to see when they will be held. If it is during the time you will be gone. If it is try checking with other schools to see if they have the classes he needs and if they have them at a more convenient time. His regular school might be willing to let him go to another school for the summer classes.

  4. If he doesn't go to summer classes, he will fail the grade and have to repeat the whole thing, not just those particular classes.
