  1. wellif that is true all you would have to do is open it up and find some sort of heat sorce and heat it up i would use a road flar lol i burnt down a tree with on and they get hot as heck and last try it i would

  2. If you rent one, you have to put down a deposit for it. If you do not return the keg, you lose your deposit. I found a cheap one on craigs list.

  3. They usually have a payment you have to pay in case you do keep it... Meaning if you keep it they get to keep the money... It's like a warranty thing...

  4. yeah and fbi gonna come for the keg so watch out

  5. I think you normally pay a deposit when you rent a keg. If you fail to return it, then you forfeit your deposit.

  6. when you buy a keg, you put a deposit on the shell.  keep it if you want it.

  7. You'll just lose the deposit on the empty keg. That's why they charge you a deposit so they get their keg back.

  8. It is true that you put a deposit on a keg and they will keep it but in the past few years keg theft (for scrap metal) has become a huge problem in some areas so I actually wouldn't be surprised if they tried to track you down for the keg.  I don't know if there would be any legal recourse but a keg deposit rarely ever covers the cost of a keg.

Anyways, empty kegs (of all shapes and sizes) can be found on e-bay, craigslist, and homebrew shops.  You can generally buy them used in varying conditions or new.  It will be the easiest and least d-bag way to go about it IMO but shipping might hurt a little if you can't pick them up.

    EDIT:

I just thought I would clarify, I'm not suggesting a stolen keg is worth $45 of scrap metal.  How much a crack head gets for a stolen keg is irrelevant.  Kegs do cost more than $45 to make though, I know off the top of my head that it's about $100 for a new 5 gallon keg, so not returning them or stealing them is ultimately only going to result in more expensive beer and/or deposits because businesses/corporations don't eat loss, they pass it on to the consumer.  A keg they don't get back to reuse is another keg they have to buy.

  9. most places where you buy a keg will charge you a deposit on the keg, if you don't take it back you don't get your money back.  where i work we charge $45 deposit.

  10. I go to school at the University of Florida, located in Gainesville.

The stores around here charge a deposit of around $45 per keg. They don't care when you drop them off, or if you drop them off at all, because people keep bringing the shells back to get filled and can then skip the whole deposit process.

The same goes for my hometown in Pennsylvania.

Despite the fact that the current amount you get paid for scrap metal is rising, you would never be able to get $45 for one keg at a scrapyard.

Just pay the deposit on one and keep it! It's not like you'll only be filling it once.

  11. they'll just keep your deposit. (you need deposits on kegs, refundable when it's returned-at least thats how it goes everywhere I've gotten them)

    no big deal.
