The reason for this is that when i tried to download version 2.42 it started freezing. Now i have some corrupt data on there and when i try to delete it it freezes. I know i will loses all my saved games and music and that, i don't really care about that.

My question is, will restoring it make it go back to how it was when i first turned it on?

Restoring it wont delete the whole entire system, i mean it will still have the menu and that, just like when i turned it on for the first time?

  1. Restoring it will just make it as if the PS3 have the same stuff on it as when your bought it... So the menu will be intact, but as you know your saved stuff will not..

  2. Yes it will make it go back to the original factory settings.

Like you said, you will lose ALL saved content but it is a good idea to do it if it keeps freezing on you.

There are 2 different restore options on the PS3.

    1) A short restore that only takes a couple of minutes and is more like a repair. So you might want to try that first.

    2) A complete restore of the system that will take it back to the day you bought it. If your PS3 has major problems then do this one but I warn you it takes around 1-2 hours to complete.

But hey, as long as it gets the PS3 running like normal again then it is well worth it!
