What happens if letters and/or packages get lost in the mail?

How can you get them to their rightful owner(s)?

First, realize that packages are never lost in the mail. They go to the wrong place and someone keeps them, they are stolen, they are sent to the wrong place and thrown away, they fall off the conveyor belt and get thrown away, you get the idea.

Either they are sent back to the return address or are thrown away.

DUH! .... They are usually "found" by someone!

Then the rest is done by the mailing company!

well if there is a fallow number that you can trace and see if it got there and if went to the wrong person then that person has right right to get it to the right owner if there is a address on it. or send it back to post office

I know what happens - it happened today!  I got a bill in the mail today for December's cable payment and for last months as well requesting last month's payment right now and I mailed the payment 17 days ago.  Now I have to take a cab to the bank & back because I can't walk there to make a stop payment, which I can't afford either.  I never ever make late payments.  I have another cheque I mailed at the same time so I guess I will have to make a phone call to see if they got my cheque as I may have to make two stop payments.  I will be phoning the post office as they were both put into the corner box .  Maybe they are no longer picking up there but if so then the box should be removed.  No one seems to give a continental over these seemingly small things

Well I did phone & guess what, of course, I'm a tad upset here  but what I got was: ho hum yeh yeh yeh so pay your bill.  They do say that their calls are monitored, I hope so, but it doesn't help me.   I really don't have enough money in my account if I don't stop payment & send them more cheques and they cash them all.  So, at my expense - I'll have to take the cab.  Minimum expense to me will be $26.00 and I'm a senior citizen...doesn't matter anymore.
