I'm still new to health care costs and plans. What happens if one does not meet the deductible within the year? Will interest add up? Will copayment increase for the next year? etc. etc....

  1. The insurance company pays their share for your medical services.  The deductible is the part of the bill they do not pay.  You are responsible to pay the deductible, or co-pay amount to the health care provider.  The insurance company does not police the deductible.

The health care provider will want some payments from you or they will eventually turn it over to a collection agency.  This still should not affect your insurance.
