  1. For car insurance the fastest method to get a cheap quote is do a auto policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage levels, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same coverage area, car make and model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get accurate comparison. To get fast auto quotes, go to http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Auto-I... and you can compare all the major auto insurance companies.

  2. Your best option is to co-operate fully and honestly. Anything else will just get you into bigger trouble.

You will have been asked "How many years have you held a full UK drivers' licence for?" when you applied, and the insurance company will have recorded the call. At best, you can claim that you misunderstood and didn't hear the "UK" bit.

If the matter comes down to misunderstood communication between the insurance company and yourself, and there is no evidence of an intent to obtain insurance fraudulently then you're unlikely to be prosecuted. You may have to pay the insurance company a significant extra fee to reflect what they would have charged you though and this could be very expensive if they decide that they would normally have declined covering you.

If there is evidence of fraud, you can expect your insurer to withdraw cover and prosecution which will normally result in a fine, penalty points and maybe a driving ban. If there have been no accidents during your period of invalid insurance then you certainly will not face imprisonment.
