So I want to have 2 12's. I can make a box about 1.3 cu. ft. but the subs are recommended to have .95 cu ft each. They will be getting .65 each and not .95 each. Thats 22% less air space than is recommended. How do you think the sound will be affected? Ive also heard that I can use polyfill to "trick it" into thinking it has more space. Thoughts on that too?

  1. Are you building a ported or a sealed box? A ported box would not be effected as much because it is always getting a fresh supply of air via the port. With a sealed container you would probably loose a little in the sq department. A lower db would probably be achieved also. As far as the polyfill goes I have personally had no luck with this and can not tell a difference with or without.

  2. if you build this the way you want make it ported it will sound louder as in the bass will hit harder. but the other difference is if you make this a sealed you may heat the woofers more causing them to wear and tear faster.

  3. if it isn't enough air space ur speakers are not hitting at it 's potential and it also depends on if it is ported or sealed...if sealed u would be able to pick up the low bass easily and ported would hit harder cause of the air vented...but 22 percent isn't as bad as u think
