  1. ouch.  one of three things:

kept there on Med Hold until you heal

sent home to heal and then return to pick up where you left off

discharged completely, with or without possibility of being able to get back in later.

really depends on how badly you are broke.

  2. Every major base has a hospital on base. They will take care of you, and if it appears you will make a complete recovery, they will keep you and assign you to light duty, or simply assign you to rehab.

If it happens in the line of duty ( training) it all counts as time served, and you continue to get paid.

  3. they'll probably let you start training with another class once you've recovered

  4. First you get treated by the Medical section.

When you recover they will decide if you can continue training or get a medical discharge.

  5. If you attend training at Ft Jackson and suffer some type of physical injury that requires time to heal you are typically placed in the PTRP (Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Program) which is a special unit designed to get you healed and back into training. Once you are medically cleared you will be placed back into training.

Hip fractures are fairly common in females going through basic training. Health Care Providers that treat soldiers in training are trained to spot warning signs early to minimize that type of injury and help the soldier recover.

The PTRP concept is not new to the Army. It was developed at Ft Jackson nearly 10 years ago and should exist in every basic training post in some form.
