What happens if u put helium in a normal football?

  1. It will be lighter and it´s volume should change. And is you divide it´s mass now by it´s volume and it´s less than the density of the air it will fly (theoretically, practically it needs to be a very very large ball to fly!!!!)


  2. They tested this on Mythbusters and found that ther was no difference when the ball was punted.

  3. The ball will get lighter, but because of the lower mass, it will be more susceptible to air resistance and drag.

    Kicking it will make it go no further than a normal football, but it will feel easier on your foot.

  4. Probably just makes it feel lighter.

    I doubt a football could hold enough helium to offset the weight - so it wouldn't float - but it would be lighter than an air-filled football, so maybe we could see some really spectacular long bombs or field goals.

  6. Helium is also a very small atom and diffuses through organic material with ease.  I would not stay pressurized long.
