What happens if you are accused of check fraud?

I just found out my boyfriend wrote and cashed a $900 check that had me and my ex boyfriendss name on the checks. I am no longer on the account but they cashed it anyways. Now a mutual friend told me there's a warrant out for my arrest in Las Vegas for this. What do I do and how do I take care of this? And how do I know if there is really a warrant or they're just messing with me?

  1. If the bank removed your name from the account before the check was written and your boyfriend had some old checks with your name on it, then it's not your fault due to the negligence of the bank for cashing the check. But if the check was cashed by a 3rd party (check cashing place) then you will need to get an affidavit from the bank stating you were not on the account when the check was cashed. If your boyfriend forged your ex's name then again - you will need an affidavit of forgery from the bank to show the police.

  2. to find out if there is a warrent - go into the police station or call them.

you can go to jail if you are found guilty of check fraud

get a copy of the check from the bank so you can prove you didnt make it out or sign it

and be prepared to turn n your boyfriend since he did it

  3. You get life imprisonment with no possibility for parole.

  4. wow.  THAT'S a great boyfriend you have there.  turn his butt in, and go in to clear the warrant.  if you've done nothing wrong, go in and prove it.

  5. 1.  You didn't close out an account when your name was still on checks....therefore, you are responsible for any activity that happens to that account....so you ARE on the account unless you close it!!!!

    2.  How did your boyfriend figure out where your checks were?  I usually don't disclose that information to people that I am not married to.

    3.  Call the Sheriff's department, they will tell you.
