  1. Well, I was living out of state (going to school) when I got a notice.  There was a place on the form I had to fill out and return that asked me if there were any reasons I could not make it.  I stated that I lived 450 miles away.  And that was that.

Is there any way for you to get the form to him to fill out and return by next month?  I don't think you can just fill it out yourself since it probably requires his signature.  Or, is there a way he can send you an official, notarized letter, or other proof, stating that he is out of the country that you can mail back with the form?

Contact the office that sent the jury notice and get their advice on what you need to do.

  2. petition for a deferment, this is an acceptable excuse (read the back for deferments and how to receive one)

  3. I would think that it would be one of only a few acceptable excuses, but you have to call and tell the court.

  4. Definately call the number on the form so there won't be a warrant out for his arrest when he returns....
