  1. Just depends on were you live. I mean in TX if you do not go that they send a warrant for your arrest. You would have to have a good explanation as to why you cant go . Jury duty is not so bad as many people act. I mean you never know you may learn something out of going. Next time when you have to go just go.

  2. In most states they try to contact you three times through the mail.  If you don't reply after the third try they assume they have the wrong address and summon someone else.  Maybe Texas and Florida are different (as per previous answers), but I've never heard of someone going to jail for it.  Lots of people like jury duty, so there are always plenty of volunteers just waiting to be contacted.  Jury duty is connected to voter registration in most states, and they often mispell names or print incorrect addresses in their records.

  3. Some palces (Florida) they'll issue a bench warrant for contempt of court.

  4. you will be found guilty of contempt of court and probably be thrown in jail for a couple days

  5. Depending on the state you're from they can actually issue a warrant for your arrest. BUT WHY, wait for that? Jury duty is easy enough to get out of if you really do not want to serve. I WANT to serve so much and have been called several times and have always been sent home.

  6. i believe you could be arrested but if you have a good excuse like going on a cruise or something that you CANT miss then they might excuse you or reschedule you. just call them and see what your options are. but i wouldnt not just show up lol.

  7. Call the court, don't wait untill they contact you!

It happened to me and I rescheduled my time in NJ.

  8. bench warrant will be issued....I got out of jury duty because I was 8 months pregnant, and anybody who has been pregnant knows, that you "pee" every 10 minutes. My doctor wrote me an excuse, and I didn't have to attend, better show up...

  9. you can go to jail for contempt of court. It's better you just do as your suppose to, cuz 99% of the time they dismiss you for some of the easiest reasons anyway..  Better to just go and tell them you'd be financially strapped if you stayed on the jury.

  10. Bench warrant is issued for your arrest.

That is why it is best to show up and tell them you can't do it if you can't. I once told them that I had to study for finals and it worked (it was the truth though).

  11. Contempt of court is the offense of one who is summoned for jury duty but does not show up.
