What happens if you are traveling to Mexico and you have not had your passport for 6 months?

So, I booked a trip to Cabo with my boyfriend only to later read your passport must be valid for 6 months before going. Mine will be valid only for 2-3 months....has anyone else had this problem? What should I expect? Surely I can travel.

What it means is that your passport needs to be valid for at least six more months. ie. it will not expire within the next 6 months. The actual amount of time you have had it is irrelevant. It makes sense when you think about it -- Mexico will give you a tourist visa for up to six months so your passport cannot expire during this time.

Julian is right; also I've travelled to mexico with no passport and all i had to to was give the man 10 bucks ;)
