I brush after every meal

I eat like 4 meals a day and whenver I have candy...I still go brush so sometimes its 4+ a day

My teeth are very sensitive now by the way...the ones with the fillings in them especially

My teeth just get yellow and my parents swtiched to Colgate and my older brother likes it so that's all they buy now and my teeth are getting yellow-er. I might go to CVS tomorrow...any suggestions on what I should get?

  1. My sister used to brush up to 40 minutes for every meal! Not only is it bad for your teeth, but it's annoying and gets in the way of other things.  It's very bad for your teeth, because your enamel starts to wear off, and as you said, they become sensitive.  If you brush too hard, for too long, your teeth will eventually get very weak and chip or you might get other damage later on in your life.  Remember, moderation is the key.  Brushing over-excessively has the same effect as not brushing at all. 3 times a day for 3 minutes each time is plenty. You do not need to brush after everything you eat, unless it's really high in sugar.  If you have braces just make sure to brush 5 minutes before bed instead of 3, and you're done.  I don't know why the Colgate is making it yellow for you, but you should try buying some toothpaste that can strengthen your teeth, and stop brushing too much.   The problem won't go away otherwise.  See a dentist if you become too worried.
